[3] It’s a testament to the evenhandedness of The Queen of Versailles [4] that you don’t end up hating its money-centric subjects. But it does raise a troubling question: Does having too much money make you dumb?

[6] Is Scrooged [7] (1988) a Dickens movie or a Bill Murray movie? A bit of both, actually. If the tale’s overall arc is familiar, some of the details are delightfully oddball.
[9] The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel [10] is as comfortable as an old pair of shoes and about as surprising. An adaptation of Deborah Moggach’s novel, it's been carefully calculated to please the over-50 demographic.
[12] It seems a strange thing to say about one of the most depressing films ever offered, but The Road [13] is beautiful in its depiction of parent/child love that transcends the worst the world can throw at us.
[15] There are a few moments in the computer-animated A Christmas Carol [16] when it seems bent on re-imagining the yarn as a theme park thrill ride. But despite these lapses, it delivers. And Jim Carrey gets most of the credit.
