Woody Allen’s Match Point [4] isn’t a comedy. Rather it's a Hitchcockian thriller about murder. Aside from its thriller elements, it's also a meditation about class, upward mobility, lust, and guilt.

[6] David Copperfield [7] has a well-known director, name screenwriters and it certainly has a cast to die for. But the individual most responsible for the success of the film was David O. Selznick.
[9] J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 [10] is a riff on all those Spielberg [11]-inspired films from the ‘80s in which suburban kids got sucked into other-worldly adventures.
[13] Blaxploitation films were by, for and about African Americans. Made cheaply throughout the 1970s, they made stars of performers like Pam Grier and Richard Roundtree and became pop cultural icons.
[15] The problem with Ronald Colman [16] (1891-1958) was that he made acting look too easy. In 1935 he was cast as Sidney Carton, the hero of M-G-M’s A Tale of Two Cities [17]. Colman’s performance is as impressive today as it was when first seen more than 70 years ago.
