Mainstays of the local music scene for 30 years, Howard Iceberg and the Titanics offer a set of original songs and tributes to the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking. A 6 p.m. reception precedes the performance. *In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside to Helzberg Auditorium.

Wade Sisson reveals the history of the Olympia, the Titanic’s sister ship, which raced 300 miles in a desperate effort to save the passengers and crew. Sisson teaches classes in Titanic history and has been a member of the Titanic Historical Society for more
than 25 years.

Kristen Iversen discusses her biography of Titanic survivor Molly Brown, a Missouri native and denizen of Denver’s Gilded Age who spoke out for women, children, and mine workers. Iversen is director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at the University of Memphis. Julie Hedgepeth Williams follows the lives of her great-uncle and his family, who found themselves on the Titanic after abandoning their work as missionaries in Thailand. Williams is a professor of journalism at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.

These events are being held in conjunction with Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition [7] on display through September 3, 2012, at Union Station, 30 W. Pershing Rd.
