Friday Night Family Fun hosts theTri-Percussion Musical World Tour on Friday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m., at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.
The trio of Mark Lowry, Raymond DeMarchi, and John Currey present a variety of musical styles and percussion instruments from four areas of the globe, including: Gahu drumming from West Africa performed on authentic Ghanaian barrel drums, Brazilian samba performed parade style, calypso steel drumming from the Caribbean Islands, and silent movie era ragtime xylophone music from the United States.
The interactive musical journey features extensive audience participation and tour stops are highlighted on a large colorful map.
The members of Tri-Percussion bring a wealth of experience, training, knowledge, and
curiosity to every performance. The trio performs educational programs and public concerts throughout the Kansas City region and the State of Missouri. Their versatility allows them to present historical programs, world music programs, jazz and popular music programs, and classical/contemporary programs.
Tri-Percussion has been awarded the Lighton Prize for Excellence as Teaching Artists by Kansas City Young Audiences.
