On the seventh anniversary of one of America's most tragic days, Dr. Dale Herspring will come to the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St. on Thursday, September 11, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss his book Rumsfeld's Wars: The Arrogance of Power [1].
Dr. Herspring, a political conservative and lifelong Republican, is a retired foreign services officer and current University Distinguished Professor in the Political Science Department at Kansas State University. In his book, Herspring offers a nonpartisan assessment of Rumsfeld's impact on the U.S. military establishment from 2001 to 2006, focusing especially on the Iraq War – from the decision to invade through the development and execution of operational strategy and the enormous failures associated with the postwar reconstruction of Iraq.
A 6 p.m. reception precedes the event. Admission is free. Call 816.701.3407 to indicate your interest in attending or you may do so online [2]. Free parking is available in the Library District Parking Garage at 10th and Baltimore.
