Famed book critic and former Granta editor John Freeman is used to asking the questions when he deals with authors. But in this program, Kansas City author Whitney Terrell and novelist Frank Bill (both of whom have been reviewed by Freeman) will turn the tables on him.
Freeman is former president of the National Book Critics Circle and author of How to Read a Novelist, a collection of interviews with 55 world-class novelists such as Salman Rushdie, Philip Roth, Toni Morrison, and Jonathan Franzen.
Bill’s acclaimed collection of short stories, Crimes in Southern Indiana, was named one of GQ’s Favorite Books of 2011 and The Daily Beast’s Best Debut of 2011. His first novel, Donnybrook, a description of a three-day bare knuckle tournament, was published in March 2013.
Co-sponsored by the Writers at Work Roundtable and the UMKC English Department.
