The Garcia family settles in New York after fleeing from the Dominican Republic. They leave to escape dictator General Issimo TruJillo vengeace of this secret police- Sim. The Garcia's are fictional but TrugJillo is not during his rule (1930-1961) many families sought refuge and a new life in the United States.
