A Conversation with Roshann Parris

Library Director Crosby Kemper III conducts a public conversation with Roshann Parris, president and CEO of the award-winning public relations firm Parris Communications Inc. In addition to more than 35 years in public relations, public affairs, and strategic corporate communications, Parris has managed dual roles in both the Clinton and Obama White Houses, and on nine national presidential campaign staffs. Serving as a lead advance person on the White House Presidential Advance Team, she has led teams to over 60 countries over the last 20 years on behalf of the U.S. president and first lady. Now in its 25th year, Parris Communications Inc. has earned a reputation for corporate communications campaigns and crisis management efforts for clients nationwide. With a passionate focus on the community, the firm has been named Kansas City Small Business Philanthropist of the Year and the No. 1 Small Business "Best Place to Work" in Greater Kansas City. Parris is a recipient of the Kansas City Spirit Award, United Way's Adele Hall Spirit of Caring Award, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Athena Award, the Girls Scouts Pearl Award, and has been named both Kansas City's Woman of the Year and the Public Relations Professional of the Year. In November 2013 Parris will become chairman of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, only the 4th woman in 126 years to assume that position. This event is a continuation of the Library's Cradle of Entrepreneurs series with a new emphasis on Kansas City women business owners and founders. It is co-sponsored by the Central Exchange.
