Movies and Memories: Take Me Out to the Ballgame

The Library continues its special, intergenerational movie series for individuals with dementia, their friends, and families with a lively, baseball-themed event.

We open, per game day tradition, with The Star-Spangled Banner, sung by Byron Hyde of the Kansas City Boys Choir. There are screenings of the 1946 Disney short Casey at the Bat and Abbott and Costello’s classic “Who’s on First?” routine and clips of a couple of our favorite songs from Damn Yankees! Take some batting practice cuts at blow-up balls. View an exhibit of historical baseball items from the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Oh, and Cracker Jack for everyone. The event is co-sponsored by Kansas City FilmFest, the Heart of America Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, The Creativity Connection, and The Kansas City Star.
