The Friends of the Library is a non-profit volunteer group dedicated to promoting the Kansas City Public Library's programs and activities by providing resources and support to the library system and the community it serves.

Friends of the Library Children's Book Sale: Trails West

The Friends of the Kansas City Public Library will host a Children's Book Sale on Saturday, July, 26, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 27, 2008 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Trails West Branch, 11401 E 23rd St., Independence, MO.  More than 2,500 toddler to young adult books will be available to choose from.  Prices will range from 50 cents to $2.

Friends of the Library City Market Monthly Book Sales

On the first Sunday of every month, at 9:30 a.m. at the City Market, 400 Grand St. Kansas City, MO 64106--North Walkway next to the Steamboat Arabia, the Friends of the Library will hold a series of book sales.  Book sales will continue through October.

Next Book Sale: Sunday, July 6, 2008, at 9:30 a.m.

Subject matters cover many genres and range in price from $0.50 to $5.00.

Volunteering
Do you simply love being around books? Volunteer to help with the Friends Annual Book Lovers’ Book Sale.

• Be a book sorter. Volunteers sort year-round during regular hours at the Main Library, and are among the first to peruse and organize the books, videos, tapes, records and other excellent materials in preparation for the annual sale.
• Work the book sale. The Friends always need cashiers, stockers, guides, counters, a clean-up crew and other helpers at their big event each year.
