Welcome the New Symbol of the Kansas City Public Library
The Kansas City Public Library’s new logo – the owl in the circle – encapsulates what’s been happening at the Library for the past 150 years. The new symbol and look were unveiled Tuesday, October 3, 2023, ahead of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Library's founding in 1873.
Banned Books Week, Oct. 1-7, annually celebrates our freedom to read, our long-held right to seek and express ideas. While challenges to books in libraries and schools continue to mount, polls and surveys consistently show that’s a minority sentiment. It's time for the majority to make themselves heard, to speak, write, and act in opposition to censorship and bans.
