Taking center stage in this poster is a pair of boxing gloves draped over a microphone. The poster is comprised of a strong black and white palette with a half inch red border. A smokey haze manifests from behind the gloves while a bright light shines onto the gloves accenting the names: "Mondale" on the left and "Reagan" on the right. Across the top of the poster in bold white print are the words "The Main Event." The design of this poster echoes the theme of a boxing match. Below the boxing gloves and in smaller font, the text reads" "Kansas City Welcomes you to: A Celebration of American Democracy. Kansas City Presidential Debate October 21, 1984 - Municipal Auditorium." The poster was photographed by R.C. Nible and commissioned by the League of Women Voters.
