Digital Services
To mark Library Card Sign-up Month in September, we asked Kansas City Public Library staffers to share the favorite ways they use their cards.
Does your online streaming experience feature more mattress ads than actual music? Tired of shelling out for a Spotify subscription or feeling boxed in by Pandora? If Apple Music or other paid services are taking a bite out of your budget, we have some news that will be music to your ears (and your wallet). Your library card lets you stream, borrow (and sometimes even keep) songs and albums - for free.
Using your Library is even easier with the refreshed KC Library mobile app, available for Android and iPhone users. Use your phone or tablet to conveniently search our catalog of books, movies, music, and audiobooks. You can also place holds and manage your account, including paying fees and renewing materials. The app also serves as a digital version of your KC Library card! Check out the other features included in this new version.
It’s fall, y’all, and the Library is kicking off the Halloween season with a monstrously good mashup of haunted local history tales, scary story recommendations, spooky special events, and frightfully fun family festivities.
If you love talking about books but aren’t quite ready to commit to joining a traditional book group, or if your schedule makes it hard to attend a regular gathering, our Whenever Book Club offers a convenient way for you to connect with other like-minded bibliophiles – no video needed, no set meeting times, no in-person obligations!
With the beginning of a new year comes the renewed commitment to shake up our usual routines. We pledge to learn a new skill, take a class or two, acquaint ourselves with different and diverse ideas, make healthier choices, take risks in our personal and professional lives … an ambitious list of life-changing activities. Luckily, the Library can help you turn your New Year’s resolutions into real results.
