Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation (AIRR), the ACLU of Missouri, and the Kansas City Public Library's Refugee & Immigrant Services & Empowerment division will present a Know Your Rights Encountering ICE seminar on November 13th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the North-East Public Library (6000 Wilson Rd, KCMO). They will discuss what happens and the rights people have when they are stopped by ICE. This program will be offered in both English and Spanish. Enjoy an evening of poetry and prose read by the authors, Kansas City-area military veterans and veteran family members.
Each reader has participated in a five-week series of Veterans Writing Workshops, learning the fundamentals of composing poetry and prose. Now, they will share their work as part of an original script, uniting all of their pieces.
This free performance showcases the readers’ military experiences in written word, highlighting the conflict, fear, concern, and excitement that can result from service to country.
Presented by the Missouri Arts Council, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. and the Missouri Humanities Council

KC Memory Cafe is for people living with memory loss and their care partners.
For our November Cafe, we are having a barnyard bonanza! Meet some friendly farm animals, live at the library! Pet some ponies, befriend some goats, and share your stories. Refreshments provided.
*This month's Cafe is on a special date due to Thanksgiving. Our regular schedule is the third Tuesday of every month.
