Kansas City Mayoral Runoff Debate

With the election just around the corner, KCTV 5 partners with the Kansas City Public Library to host a runoff debate between mayoral candidates Sly James and Mike Burke for the top post in Kansas City, Missouri. The debate will be broadcast live with KCTV 5 Investigative Reporter Stacey Cameron serving as moderator. Along with a select panel of journalists from the metro area, Cameron will ask the final two candidates questions on the city’s most pressing issues from earnings tax to economic development. Watch a live stream of the debate beginning at 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in the media player below, courtesy KCTV5.
“For Kansas City voters, there is no substitute for seeing and hearing the final two mayoral candidates address real issues,” Cameron says. “I look at this debate as an opportunity to start a very serious discussion about what Kansas City needs to do to move forward as a city. “This is a real chance for voters to learn about the people vying to lead our city over the next four years, and this debate is participatory democracy at its best.” The Library asks that guests arrive at 6 p.m.; the debate is scheduled to begin promptly at 6:20 p.m. Admission to the event is free.
