The At Ease with Opera series returns for a program in support of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s November production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore.

Lyric Opera Guild speaker Richard Byrum will discuss the career of W.S. Gilbert, who was a renowned British humorist long before teaming up with composer Arthur Sullivan. Byrum’s talk will focus on the humorous prose and poetry of Gilbert. The Lyric Opera of Kansas City will present H.M.S. Pinafore on November 6, 8, 11, and 14. Founded in 1961, the Lyric Opera Guild is the principal support organization for the Lyric Opera and continues to offer a variety of activities and programs.
