Sunday Cinema: 'Blood Tea and Red String'
In a whimsical yet dark fantasy world two groups of mice war over the possession of a beautiful doll. Presented with no dialogue, the story is a timeless modern fairytale full of fantastical environments and beautifully hand-crafted characters that are as lovely and cute they are cruel and viscous, all painstakingly animated over the course of 13 years by director and local artist Christiane Cegavske.Lovers of classic creepy fairytales such as the works of author/illustrator Edward Gorey (The Gashly crumb Tinies) or directors like Jan Svankmajer (Alice 1988) and Henry Selick (Coraline, Nightmare Before Christmas) are sure to find a new favorite obsession in Blood Tea and Red String.
