Legacy of Horror
Central Cinema Nights is a movie screening in the Central Library’s Durwood Film Vault taking place each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.  Join us as we watch and discuss documentaries and feature films in a socially conscious setting, chosen to fit a monthly theme. This month's theme: Legacy of Horror

As the shadows get longer and the days get shorter we look at the roots of horror. These early films represent a Western perspective on the ancient fears that have plagued humanity.  Come watch as we examine some of these myths and monsters in our lead-up to Halloween.

Häxan  (1998, NR)

Benjamin Christensen's legendary film uses a series of dramatic vignettes to explore the scientific hypothesis that the witches of the middle ages suffered the same hysteria as turn-of-the-century psychiatric patients. But the film itself is far from serious-instead it's a witches' brew of the scary, gross, and darkly humorous

Everyone is welcome! Movie screenings at the Central Library are always FREE and open to the public.

Upcoming Films:
October  3 Kingdom of Shadows (1998, NR)
October 10 Nosferatu (1922, NR)
October 17 Frankenstein (1931, NR)
October 24 The Wolf Man (1941, NR)
October 31 Häxan (1922, NR)
