The Kansas City Public Library’s Refugee & Immigrant Services & Empowerment (RISE), is playing host for the first time for its annual World Refugee Day event, which is one of the cosponsors with Jewish Vocational Services (JVS).

All are welcome to walk up or drive through the event in the parking lot of the newly renovated North-East Branch (6000 Wilson Ave.), which is also the new permanent home for RISE and its classes.

Bags with PPE materials will be given away, the Mobile Library will be in the parking lot giving away books, and Heart to Heart International will be on site giving out COVID-19 vaccinations. Uber and Lyft have agreed to free rides to and from the event as well.

Pre-registration is required to receive a vaccine. Register here:

The Library will also be open and attendees are welcome to come inside, see the new space, RISE classroom, and refreshed collection.
