Cartooning pioneer Will Eisner helped develop a new style of visual storytelling: the graphic novel. Eisner's work is the focus of a Library exhibit currently on display at the Central Library: Will Eisner: The Centennial Celebration, 1917-2017. As part of the exhibit, the Library recaps a recent presentation about Eisner’s impact on artists and readers alike, plus we highlight some notable titles in our graphic novel collection – both physical and digital.

In celebration of good vibrations and the Library's music-centric 2018 Summer Reading program, Rock & Read, we've put together some note-worthy resources and recommendations and Library staffers' remembrances of their most magical concerts.

Below are a couple music categories or scenarios; some of our Library staffers have opened up to tell us what tunes make them turn up the dial, shed a tear, or bust a move.       And whatever your bookish proclivities may be, you still have time to log your books before the 2018 Summer Reading Program ends on July 31.

The Veterans Writing Workshop is designed to help veterans, active military, and their family members develop writing and narrative skills that can empower them to tell their stories, whether they are true-life accounts or wholly original tales. Each of the sessions is free and conducted by professional writers and educators; they provide the same high level of instruction as a college or university writing course.
