Located in the heart of the commercial and residential neighborhood for which it is named, Waldo Branch Library is one of the busiest branches in the system. It serves as a community center for the area as well as a meeting place for various community organizations and neighborhood associations.

Books and Brews

Literary and noteworthy fiction and nonfiction. The group takes turns picking and facilitating. An optional dutch treat chat, chew and brews session follows at a nearby restaurant. Co-sponsored by American Association of University Women.

Literature in Translation

Travel the world through the eyes of authors whose work was written in their native language, and translated to English. Book Group, meets every fourth Thursday at 6:30 PM.

Medicare: What You Need to Know

A FREE program that explains Medicare in a way that's easy to understand. This class will be especially helpful for people turning 65 in the next few months. RSVPs are appreciated but not required. Call 816.701.6507.

Contemporary and classic mysteries. The group takes turns facilitating.

Parents as Teachers Play Group

During the monthly playtimes children have the opportunity to play with other children as their parents model play and interact with other parents.

Children ages 2-5 will enjoy stories, songs, and crafts.

Read to a Dog
The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) literacy program uses therapy animals to improve children's reading and communication skills. Join the R.E.A.D. team at the Waldo Branch on the second Saturday each month between September 2018 and April 2019 (excluding December and January) as children read the pooches some prose. Children may sign up for a 10-minute slot each Saturday. Parents must sign a release form before children will be allowed to read with one of the dogs.

Teens! Join us every Friday afternoon for video games on the Xbox One and Wii! Games include Rocket League, Mine Craft, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Naruto Ultimate Storm 4, Halo, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Madden, NBA 2K, FIFA, and more! Open to 7th through 12th graders.

Treat Yourself to Yoga

Join Joy Monzon and us every Sunday afternoon. Enjoy a 60 minute guided practice for all levels. You will leave each session with a deep sense of gratitude and connection to your mind and body.

Waldo Lego Club

Join us as we build and create with LEGO bricks. Work toward a construction goal on your own or with a group. Appropriate for ages 5-12. Duplo blocks will be available for younger children.
