The Kansas City Public Library redefines the wall of sound as the annual Off-the-Wall Film Series reels off a rollicking line-up of cult musicals this summer.

This raucous rock/pop driven showcase concludes with the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) on Friday, September 19, at 8:45 p.m. on the Rooftop Terrace at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

Unsurpassed when it comes to audience participation theater, this penultimate cult musical time warps viewers back to the days when filmmakers cared less about a plausible plot and more about flooding the senses – especially the sense of decency – with bizarro visuals and zany musical numbers. The cast includes vivid performances from Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Meatloaf, and Richard O’Brien. So come up to the rooftop and see what's on the slab... Rated R. (100 min.)

Admission is free. Call 816.701.3407 to indicate your interest in attending or you may do so online. Free parking is available in the Library District Parking Garage at 10th and Baltimore.

Popcorn and water are provided for film-goers, who are welcome to bring pillows and blankets or any preferred seating for the event. In case of inclement weather, the screening will be moved indoors. The Off-the-Wall Film Series is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
