Stream 30,000 Movies, Free, with Your Kansas City Public Library Card

Kansas City, MO - Kansas City Public Library patrons now have free access to more than 30,000 free critically acclaimed films, through the Library’s partnership with Kanopy. Kanopy is a streaming video service that offers a large collection of independent, international, documentary, and early films. That also includes the entirety of the Criterion Collection, which features hundreds of classic and contemporary films.

“The Kansas City Public Library has provided free access to these type of critically acclaimed films for decades,” said Joel Jones, Deputy Director of Library Services. “The streaming capability of Kanopy is the most accessible format we have ever offered in terms of quantity of films and ease of access.”

Here’s how it works:

  • You can view up to 12 movies per month with a KCPL card.
  • Once started, you will have 3 days to watch each film.
  • Play credits reset the 1st of the month.
  • Access your free Kanopy account from any device, including Roku, iOS, and Android apps on phones, tablets, or smart TVs.
