Mister Roberts

One of the best and most beloved stage and screen treatments of World War II was not a sweeping chronicle of combat and conquest but rather a low-key story away from the action, aboard a decrepit cargo ship whose crew contends with boredom and the cruelty and incompetence of its captain. Henry Fonda won a Tony Award as the titular Mister Roberts—one of his favorite stage roles—and the production won another Tony for best play.

Commemorating Veterans Day, members of Kansas City’s Equity Actors' Readers' Theatre (EARTh) deliver a script-in-hand performance of the comedy-drama adaption of Thomas Heggen’s 1946 novel.

Co-presented by the Equity Actors' Readers' Theatre, which presents infrequently produced, large-cast plays in a concert-style, staged reading format.
