Fifth District Congressional Student Art Exhibit

All Kansas City Public Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, and will remain closed all day Thursday, November 27, for Thanksgiving.

U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II and his wife Dianne Cleaver recognize high school artists at a town hall gathering and name the top five submissions in this annual celebration of artistic discovery. Entries will be on display with many on view through April 18.

U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II and his wife, Dianne Cleaver, honor the area’s young artists in A Voyage of Artistic Discover, the annual Missouri 5th District Congressional Student Art Exhibit on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

Emcees for the event are Kris Ketz of KMBC and Dana Wright of KMBZ.

Five top submissions will be named; one of them will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol. An additional 10 pieces will be selected to be displayed in shops in the Crossroads arts district.

Jim Leedy, one of the major forces in the success of Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District, will be honored with a Congressional Record statement for his years as an artist, gallery owner, and educator.
