On Saturday, October 11, the Central Library is open to registered Heartland Book Festival attendees only. Regular services, such as hold pickups, public computers and phones, and public meeting rooms, will not be available.
One of the staples of Kansas City’s Westside community, the Irene H. Ruiz Branch of the Kansas City Public Library commemorates its 10th anniversary with a musical showcase.
Among the acts to perform will be the Alta Vista Middle School Mariachi Band and the Solis Family Band. Refreshments will be provided while a tour of the branch is conducted. The branch, named for former librarian Irene Ruiz, features a wide variety of materials in Spanish as well as unique bibliographic and audiovisual resources related to Latin American culture.
