One-Acts by Charles George - Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre

The Library continues its 10th season of Script-in-Hand performances and more than six months of special programming surrounding one of the cultural events of the year – an exhibit featuring a rare, nearly four-centuries-old First Folio collection of Shakespeare’s plays. These two comedies by American playwright Charles George reflect on the notions of love and romance through witty repartee, puns, and direct references to the Bard’s folio.
When Shakespeare’s Ladies Meet: Six of Shakespeare’s greatest heroines meet to discuss Juliet’s new love interest, the impetuous Romeo. The ladies advise Juliet on love through their own perspectives and past experiences. When Shakespeare’s Gentlemen Get Together: Some of Shakespeare’s leading men come to the counting house of Shylock, looking to borrow more money to accommodate the spending of their ladies and for advice on how to take control back from the women.

All First Folio-related events are made possible by a generous contribution from the David W. Newcomer IV and Gene Ann Newcomer Family Foundation Fund, in memory of Gene Ann’s brother, Professor John Klier.
This event is co-sponsored by: Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre
