Award-winning author Sara Paretsky discusses the latest installment in her V.I. Warshawski mystery series on Thursday, September 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the Truman Forum at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

The book, titled Hardball, follows Warshawski as she investigates the disappearance of her cousin Petra.

Paretsky is the author of 14 previous books, including 12 in the V.I. Warshawski series. She has won several awards, including the Cartier Diamond Dagger Award for lifetime achievement from the British Crime Writers’ Association. Raised in Lawrence, Kansas, Paretsky now lives in Chicago.

The event is co-sponsored by Rainy Day Books. Copies of Paretsky's books, including Hardball, will be available for sale, and the author will sign copies purchased during the event.
