Comic Book Character Workshop

In this workshop, you'll meet the author/illustrator of the graphic novel A Tale as Tall as Jacob, Samantha Edwards. Participants will examine such questions as How do comic book artists get ideas for wacky characters like “Dogman” and “Marigold Heavenly Nostrils”? You’ll learn how to generate your own silly characters for all your future comic book ideas! Samantha will demonstrate some technical comic-drawing skills along the way. Leave the workshop with a unique illustrated character of your very own, a character generator for future drawing inspiration, and the first steps to making your own wacky series.

Appropriate for ages: 7-13 (can be flexible, but kids under 7 may need adult support)
