The Plaza Branch Library is located near the Country Club Plaza. Free parking is available in the Plaza Branch's parking garage. There are designated children's and teen's service areas, as well as comfortable chairs and tables throughout the branch for customers to read, write, study or visit. Several meeting rooms are available for community or neighborhood meetings. The Plaza Branch has particularly strong collections in children's resources, arts & crafts books, and business materials. It also has large video, compact disc, and audiobook collections.

FREE Tax Preparation
Representatives from Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be on hand to assist with your federal and state (MO and KS) income tax returns.

Mondays 3:30pm-7pm
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 10am-5:30pm
Saturdays 10am-5pm

This service is available to individuals making $54,000 per year or less. Help is available on a walk-in basis only, and time slots fill up quickly.

Library staff are NOT tax experts.  All questions are to go through the tax service preparers at the KC VITA office at 816.482.5850

Please bring the following items:
  • Proof of identification (photo ID)
  • Social Security cards or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) assignment letter for you, your spouse and dependents (Proof of foreign status, if applying for an ITIN)
  • Birth dates for you, your spouse and dependents
  • Wage and earning statements (Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R,1099-Misc) from all employers
  • Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099)
  • All 1095 Forms, Health Insurance Statements Health Insurance Exemption Certificate, if received
  • A copy of last year’s federal and state returns, if available
  • Direct deposit and/or banking information
  • Proof of daycare expenses with provider name, address and ID number
  • Copies of income transcripts from IRS and state, if applicable

To file taxes electronically on a married-filing-joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.

Explore the world of Table Top Gaming! It's not just Monopoly anymore! The games are bigger, better and weirder! We will be playing Order of the Stick, MTG, King of Tokyo, Gloom and Small world. Game availability will vary depending on our game sponsors. If you have a great table top game at home please bring it and share with new friends!

Tech Coach Volunteer Program Orientation and Training

We will offer 2 sessions each month:
* 1st Tuesdays, noon-1 p.m. at Central Library, Room 312
* 3rd Thursdays, 6-7 p.m. at Plaza Branch, small meeting room
 

Join our Tech Coach volunteer team to help KC adults across the digital divide! Volunteer just 1-2 hours per week to help patrons develop basic computer and internet skills, create and use email and social media accounts, build resumes and so much more! Morning, afternoon, or evening shifts are available, Monday – Saturday.
