More than ever, perhaps, we find ourselves relying on technology to stay informed, keep in touch with family and friends, continue school, and work effectively from our homes. Here are some resources – and some generous special offers – to help remain digitally connected during this challenging time.
- Spectrum is offering free internet for 60 days to households with students. Call 1-844-488-8395. Installation also is free if your house isn’t already wired for the service. No contract is required, but you are not eligible if you have outstanding debt with the provider.
AT&T is providing free internet service for two months to new limited-income subscribers to its Access from AT&T program, then offering service thereafter for $5 or $10 monthly (depending on the internet speed available in the area). Eligible households include those participating in the National School Lunch Program and/or Head Start.
Public WiFi Hotspots are now open and available to everyone through numerous providers including AT&T, Xfinity/Comcast, and Spectrum. Some providers’ websites offer maps for finding nearby hotspots and links to click to connect. Or open your device’s WiFi network settings and select attwifi, Xfinity, or Spectrum WiFi to connect.
