Carol Inge Hockett: Leonardo Lessons

Art historian Carol Inge Hockett discusses the life and work of Leonardo da Vinci in a program titled Leonardo Lessons on Tuesday, March 10, at 1 p.m. in the Truman Forum at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

Using images from throughout da Vinci’s life, Hockett identifies six lessons to be drawn from his work and relates them to developments in modern and contemporary art. Focusing on concepts such as observation and synthesis, Hockett makes connections to artists as diverse as Louise Nevelson and Robert Rauschenberg, Marcel Duchamp and Liza Lou.

Hockett will focus on da Vinci’s notebooks, anatomical studies, and inventions as well as works such as The Last Supper.

The event is co-sponsored by the Kansas City Art Study Club.
