Open Spaces 2018: KC’s Ambitious ‘Arts Experience’

Presented By
Dan Cameron

Kansas City is about to bump up its national and international arts profile.

Renowned curator Dan Cameron sits down with Library Director Crosby Kemper III to discuss the ambitious, two-month Open Spaces 2018: A Kansas City Arts Experience, which will showcase more than 100 visual and performing artists from the area and around the globe. Venues range from parks and urban spaces to galleries, performance halls, and outdoor stages.

Opening August 25, the planned biennial – with Cameron as artistic director and public-private sponsorship including the City of Kansas City – is designed to attract cultural visitors and heighten the city’s visibility. It runs through October 28.

Cameron also founded Prospect New Orleans, the largest international biennial of contemporary art in North America, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2008.
