John McPhee

Pulitzer Prize winner John McPhee discusses his career and the writing life as part of the Writers at Work series on Monday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.

McPhee began his writing career at Time magazine. Since 1965, he has been a staff writer for The New Yorker. He has authored several books and won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 1999 for Annals of the Former World. He is a nonfiction writing instructor at Princeton University. Among his former students is Pulitzer Prize winner and current editor of The New Yorker David Remnick.

The event is part of the Writers at Work series organized by Kansas City novelist Whitney Terrell and co-sponsored by Chris Davis and the English Department at UMKC.

Several of McPhee’s books will be available for sale, and the author will sign copies purchased during the event.
