Strange Brew (1983)

Doors open: 8 p.m. • Program: 8:45 p.m. The Library’s 2016 Off-the-Wall film series kicks off with Strange Brew (PG, 90 min., 1983), an interpretation of Hamlet on hops. The Canadian McKenzie brothers (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) discover something is rotten in the Elsinore Brewery, don’cha know?     May 20 – Strange Brew (1983)     June 17 – Warm Bodies (2013)     July 15 – She's the Man (2006)     August 19 – 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)     September 16 – West Side Story (1961) The 2016 series is presented by The Kansas City Public Library and The Pitch. Sample some locally brewed ales and lagers courtesy of Kansas City Bier Company. This year’s series is part of an extended celebration of the Library’s Show-Me Shakespeare 2016, revolving around the special June exhibit First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare. Doors open at 8 p.m.(Note: The Central Library closes at 5 p.m. on Fridays, but the doors reopen at 8 p.m. for Off-the-Wall audiences.) All movies begin at dusk (approximately 8:45 p.m.) Blankets and folding chairs welcome. No glass containers, please. In case of bad weather, screenings are moved indoors to the adjacent Helzberg Auditorium.
Free parking is available in the Library District parking garage at 10th and Baltimore. Bring your parking ticket for complimentary validation.
